WHAT TO DO IN KALININGRAD?
Kaliningrad is the westernmost regional center of Russia and it is located separately from the rest of the territory. Before 1945 Kaliningrad was called Konigsberg and was the capital of the German province of East Prussia. By the decision of the Potsdam conference after the war, the city was transferred to the Soviet Union. 1946 was renamed in Kaliningrad.
  • The Island Of Kant
    Acquaintance with the city is better to start from the center-the island of Kanta. This place surprises with its desolation. But once it was the heart of the city - the island housed 28 streets, which were trams and there were more than 300 houses. Now the only building here is a Grand Cathedral built in 1333. The Cathedral was lucky. Although during the war all its contents burned down, the building was not demolished, as the great philosopher I. Kant was buried near its walls. The Cathedral houses the Museum of I. Kant, as well as a concert hall, where organ mini-concerts are held every day.
  • City-fortress
    Konigsberg has always been a fortress city. Over the centuries, the city fortifications were expanded and rebuilt and, as a result, in the 19th century around the city formed a ring of 12 large and 3 small FORTS. Each of the large FORTS could house a garrison of up to 300 men and 30-40 guns. Of greatest interest are the NR FORTS. 11 (Denhof) and Nr. 5 (Frederick William).

  • Amber plant
    Not far from Kaliningrad, on the shore of the Baltic sea is the village of Amber or, in the old way, Palmniken. More than 90% of the world's Sunstone reserves are concentrated in this place! It is here, from a height of 50 meters overlooking the quarry, where the extraction of amber. Also here you can find a pyramid, the construction of which took 800 kg of solar stone!.
  • Curonian spit
    The Curonian spit is a narrow strip of land stretching along the sea coast for almost 100 km between the cities of Zelenogradsk and Klaipeda. On one side of the spit is the freshwater Curonian lagoon, on the other - the Baltic sea. The entire Russian territory of the spit is a nature reserve created to protect the unusual nature of these places and included in the UNESCO world heritage list.
